«Me empeñé en buscarle un marco cuando quizá lo que necesitaba era espacio. Siempre me ha llamado la atención la cantidad de talento que vive escondido en vidas demasiado pequeñas. Personas extraordinarias que, por costumbre, por miedo o por lo que se espera de ellas, terminan utilizando apenas una pequeña parte de todo lo que son. Mientras dibujaba a esta mujer, encogida dentro de un espacio que parece quedarle pequeño, volví a pensar en ello. A veces pasamos media vida intentando encajar. Y quizá el problema nunca fuimos nosotros. Quizá era el marco.»

«I kept trying to find a frame for her, when perhaps what she really needed was space. I've always been struck by how much talent remains hidden in lives too small to contain it. Extraordinary people who, out of habit, fear, or the expectations of others, end up using only a small fraction of who they truly are. As I was drawing this woman, curled up in a space that seems too small for her, I found myself thinking about it again. Sometimes we spend half our lives trying to fit in. And perhaps we were never the problem. Perhaps it was the frame.»
